Casey's Uncle: We're Shocked ... And We Aren't

TMZ spoke with retired Baptist preacher Odus Jackson, who is Jamie Lynn Spears' baby daddy's uncle by marriage. (You still with us?)

Uncle Odus tells us that Casey is a "fine young man" who has always been courteous. That sentiment is apparently shared by many in his small town of Gloster, Miss., where we've been told over and over again Casey is a good kid from a good family.

As for Jamie Lynn, Uncle Odus says he has only met her once, on Thanksgiving of this year. As for news of her pregnancy, he says he found out, like the rest of us, on Tuesday night. He tells us the family was "shocked' and yet "we aren't." As a pastor, Uncle Odus says he's seen "this type of thing" more often than he'd like.

For the complete interview with Casey's Uncle Odus, check out TMZ TV Thursday night.

61. So since it is so hard to describe how this guy is related to the soon to be father, why should we care what his opinion is?

62. Casey is a sexual predator that belongs behind bars. He was 19 and this young girl 14/15 when he had sex with her getting her pregnant. Under Louisiana law and the laws of many other states, police are obligated to arrest him and charge him with rape, yet this has not happened in this case. I wonder who has been paid-off?

65. Are we all really surprised by this news? Mother Spears has been too busy trying to make money off her kid's celebrity to provide the guidance that they so desperately needed in their childhood.

66. Age of consent is 17 in Louisiana. No where does it say WHERE she got knocked up at. He is from Mississippi, it is 16 there.

67. The fact that her mother allowed her to start dating this rapist at the age of 13 is sickening. What did she think just because they met in church that he was some wholesome guy? No just like any other guy. Her mother is nothing but and aider in this. Shows where her parenting skills are. And she wanted to write a parenting book. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

69. regarding statuatory rape charges:

At first, everyone was reporting that he was at least 19 years old.

Now he's 'magically' only '18', making it less likely for him to get charged.

IF THEY WEREN'T WHITE AND RICH, THEY'D GET BUSTED.

IF THEY WERE BLACK AND POOR, THEY'D GET BUSTED. THIS IS A RACE AND CLASS ISSUE.

70. Isn't TMZ headed by a lawyer? When is someone going to bring up the fact that this 'fine young man' (19 y/o) is going to go to jail for rape? Or does Hollywood assume that they are untouchable on this subject as well?

Here we have a pregnant 16 y/o and all anyone can report is she is getting $1M for the first pictures in OK magazine.

73. I bet half or not more of the celebrity kids out there have been knocked up before 18. The difference is they get abortions and get rid of the baby to not embarass the family. Truth hurts but it true.

74. I just want to tell people (like #15) that just b/c someone is 16 and pregnant, does not mean it has anything to do with the parent,s or their marital status! I had my beautiful baby girl when I was 16 yers old, she's now 9, and my parents have now been married for over 30 years. Furthermore, they were & still are, great parents. My dad was a State Trooper (now retired), and my mom an RN. I came from a VERY wonderful family.
It's not about the parents, it is their child taking their own life into their own hands. At 16, you know what decisions to make or not to make. It's only her decision, and she's taken responsibility for it. Don't blame it on the parents! If you try to watch your kids constantly, you're just going to suffer the huge backlash from it. Chances are, they will try even harder to rebel against you.
I'm not saying that everyone should just go have a baby when they're a teenager, but it is not the end of the World! My life has turned out, not exactly how I'd planned, but wonderful as it is. I credit my daughter for making me grow up, and become a better person.
I think Jaime Lynn will be a great mother!
